Frequently Asked Questions
What is your cancellation policy?
You may cancel your appointment at any time, up until 24 hours prior. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice you will be charged 50% of the service. If you cancel with less than 8 hours notice, the full consultation fee will be charged. We understand that life happens, and things come up. We will try and work with you if an emergency arises. However, we block a significant amount of time aside to come see you in-home. This is the only way that we get compensated for our time with little to no notice for a slot that will not be able to be filled.
Will you come to my house?
We do offer virtual and in-home lactation services! We will travel up to 20 minutes free of charge. However, anything over 20 minutes has a travel fee of $35. This will be discussed at time of booking.
I want to gift a service to an expecting mom.
Gifting a service to an expecting mother is a perfect way to care for them and help ease their anxieties. Head to our gift cards tab to purchase for a friend or loved one! Please email us or fill out the “contact us” form for further questions!
What insurances are covered?
We partner with the Lactation Network who covers Aetna, Meritain, First
Health, First Choice Health, Sentara Health Plans, United Healthcare, PNOA
plans, and Multiplan carriers.
We partner with Wildflower Health for all Cigna plans.
We do not currently accept Medicaid plans.
We accept HSA/FSA cards!
Our card company allows most major credit care providers. We encourage you to use your HSA/FSA funds for all healthcare expenses! Please note that it is Merchant Chain Code (MCC) dependent. Meaning that if the MCC doesn’t align with a business that should be accepting HSA, it could fail.
Why do I need a card on file?
All patients are required to have an active card on file to charge the day of service. If you prefer to pay by check or cash please let us know prior to your visit and we will not charge the card on file. This also covers if you cancel outside of the cancellation window, or if a travel fee applies.
Anthem/BCBS
Anthem/BCBS will only reimburse for 60 minutes of lactation coverage per visit. Something we are trying to work on changing! They deem longer visits medically unnecessary at this time and will not let us bill additional time. The extra time is not considered medically necessary, even if clinically helpful!
However, many families are still wishing to book the full 75 or 90 minute sessions. In these cases, the provider will submit a claim to your insurance only for the covered portion of the services. If you wish to have a longer session, then Self-Pay costs will be charged for the time not billed to your insurance. The self-pay additional time is completely voluntary and is separate from insurance-covered services. Self-Pay cost for additional time will be discussed before services are rendered. You may decline additional time without affecting insurance covered care.
A travel fee will apply to all Anthem patients at this time due to session length limitations. This will be discussed at the time of booking.
